Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems Contract Inside IR35| Financial Services | London based ( 3 days onsite in London) We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the team responsible for the continued development, scaling and operation of a high-performance computing (HPC) platform. You'll play a key role in designing and building software that supports large-scale distributed workloads, helping evolve the platform as it expands into hybrid cloud environments while improving reliability, scalability and operational efficiency. What you'll be doing Design, develop and maintain software for a high-performance computing platform.Build new platform capabilities to support large-scale distributed workloads.Extend the platform into AWS, enabling hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.Improve platform scalability to support up to one million concurrent tasks.Develop tooling to simplify platform management, deployment and operational processes.Enhance deployment automation, logging, monitoring and access controls.Deliver well-tested, production-ready software following engineering best practices.Collaborate closely with engineers through technical design discussions, code reviews and Agile delivery. Skills & Experience Commercial software engineering experience using Go, Python, Rust or C++, with a preference for engineers with strong Go experience or those who are confident in picking up Go.Experience designing or building distributed systems.Strong understanding of concurrency, scalability and performance optimisation.Experience developing production-grade backend software.Experience with AWS and cloud-native applications.Experience with Python is beneficial.Familiarity with Linux environments and modern software engineering practices.
