Junior Software Engineer

Junior \ Entry-level Software Engineer | Location: Leeds Fancy a career in software? Whether you have a relevant degree not ? Good. You don't need one. We're looking for an Entry-Level Software Engineer who is curious, analytical and genuinely wants to build a career in technology. Yes if you have a computer science degree still apply! You might be a recent graduate from a completely different subject. You might have taught yourself to code. You might have completed a bootcamp. Or you might be sitting in a completely different career thinking, "I reckon I'd be good at this." What you'll be doing You'll work alongside experienced engineers, learning how software is designed, built, tested and deployed. You'll get involved in things like: Writing and improving codeBuilding new features and applicationsFixing bugs and investigating problemsWorking with APIs, databases and cloud technologiesWriting tests and learning good engineering practicesTaking part in code reviewsWorking as part of an Agile development teamGradually taking ownership of your own pieces of work You won't be expected to know everything on day one. That's the whole point of the role. You might already have some experience with: JavaScript / TypeScript, Java, Python, C# or another programming languageGit or GitHubHTML / CSSAPIsDatabasesPersonal coding projectsA coding bootcamp or online learning platformBut you don't need to tick every box. Career changers - this could be for you. Maybe you've spent the last few years working in finance, retail, engineering, teaching, customer service, marketing, science, or something completely different. That's not a disadvantage. In fact, we like people who bring a different perspective. If you've taught yourself programming outside of work, built something in your spare time, completed a bootcamp, or simply shown that you're serious about making the move into software engineering, we'd love to hear from you.
