Head of Legal - UK / HarKaye Core Talent A leading national law firm are currently looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor/Team Leader to join their Public Law & Human Rights department to deal with Claims Against Public Authorities .
You'll lead the Claims Against Public Authorities team, manage a small caseload, and guide a group of solicitors, fee earners, and support staff. Your job is to ensure excellent legal work, support team development, and help the department run smoothly.
Job Title : Solicitor/Team Leader - Claims Against Public Authorities
Location : London (Hybrid working up to 2 days in-office per week)
Reports to : Head of Public Law and Human Rights
Department : Public Law
What You'll Do
Lead and support your team with regular check-ins, reviews, and coaching
Oversee performance, set goals, and help the team meet targets
Ensure compliance with legal aid and regulatory rules
Manage risks and handle complaints professionally
Support training and development for team members
Help with department planning, forecasting, and business development
Keep a reduced caseload of CAPA matters
What You'll Need
Qualified solicitor (Grade A or equivalent)
Strong experience in actions against public authorities
Previous team or people management experience
Knowledge of legal aid work and procedures
Great communication, organisation, and IT skills
A sensitive, client-focused approach
